Requirements: Professional appearance, kindness, and clear communication skills are a must. Forklift license an asset.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan and direct grounds maintenance.
- Plan and estimate labour and materials.
- Maintain work records and logs.
- Establish work schedules and procedures.
- Repair and maintain equipment.
- Requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Resolve work-related problems.
- Supervise nursery and greenhouse workers.
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations.
- Determine staffing requirements.
- Manage staff and assign duties.
Area of specialization:
- Grounds maintenance.
- Garden centre.
- Nursery or greenhouse.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Own vehicle.
- Fast-paced environment.
- Work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Physically demanding.
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Bending, lifting, kneeling, hot and humid.
- Ability to lift 25-50lbs (plants, plant material, bags of soil etc.).
- Adaptable and flexible with changing weather and daily schedules, accepting that some days may be longer than other days.
